Arthritis condition is one of the most widespread and well-known foot problems around. This is because it affects the foot with many small joints. This makes it easily susceptible to the disease. There are many known solutions to managing arthritis symptoms. Each solution is unique in that it may work for one person but fail for the next. One of the most effective treatment plans involves arthritis injections Dallas. More about these injections is discussed further below.

    What are Arthritis injections?

These are injections, typically hydrocortisone, that manage painful or swollen joints. The injection is placed directly into the site of the affected joint. This is mainly aimed at body parts like the elbow, shoulder, hand, knee, hip, or wrist via intra-articular injection.

These injections also have uses for other issues like bursitis, painful tendons, and muscle pain that focus on a specific site. They assist in alleviating swelling and pain, making movement more manageable, and results last for a few months.

Hydrocortisone is a kind of corticosteroid medication different from an anabolic steroid. A specially trained physician can only hand them out in a medical clinic as a prescription.

Allergic reactions, severe asthma, failure of adrenal glands, or extreme shock due to infection or injury may necessitate administering higher hydrocortisone doses.

Hydrocortisone can be found in suppositories, skin creams, and tablets. They inhibit swelling and pain by releasing the drugs into the affected joint gradually. This may offer relief for between six months to a year.

Heightened swelling and pain after injection is a common occurrence. This, however, only occurs for several days after the procedure before receding and improving previous symptoms.

These injections can be done on your body in one similar part up to four times a year. This also greatly depends on the joint being dealt with. A steroid emergency card is highly recommended for those patients who have been getting the shots on a long-term basis.

Hydrocortisone shots may affect the immune system, primarily through contracting infections like shingles, chickenpox, or measles, as they have adverse symptoms.

    Who needs Arthritic Injections?

These injections can be performed on most people, including babies, children, and adults. Not everyone responds well to these injections. It is, therefore, paramount to tell your physician about the following before you get these shots:

    • If you are undergoing bipolar disorder or depression or if any related family members have this condition
    • If you have a history of an allergic reaction to drugs used like hydrocortisone
    • Are you pregnant, trying to, or are breastfeeding
    • Have an infection inclusive of one for the eye
    • If you are due to or have recently had a vaccination
    • If you have been in close contact with a person with shingles, chickenpox, or measles
    • If you have high blood pressure, any unhealed wounds, diabetes, fragile bone, or glaucoma

Arthritis conditions can have some pretty uncomfortable symptoms if not correctly dealt with. These may harm the quality of your life. For any arthritis injection inquiries, visit our website, or call our offices in Dallas, TX.
