5 Cleaning Tips to Avoid Allergies in Your House

It’s hard to avoid pollen allergies when you live in the land down under.

If you’re in Melbourne and Hobart, October and November are allergy months. If you live in Sydney, Adelaide, or Canberra, spring and summer are when pollen attacks. In unluckier parts of Australia like Brisbane and Darwin, allergy season happens most of the year.

That is just for pollen allergies. Imagine every other one. It’s safe to stay ready most of the year.

That’s why maintaining a clean house is so critical to reducing the number of allergens in your home.

A safe and effective way to thoroughly clean your home is through hiring the best house cleaning service team. However, you may still have to do some cleaning yourself for maintenance.

Here is a checklist for you to go through to ensure an allergy-free home.

    • Dust, Dust, Dust

Dust everything. It’s as simple as that.

Use a microfiber cloth to dust every surface of your house. This type of cloth is made of polyester and nylon, which traps the smallest of dust particles. These fibres are split to over 100 times smaller than your hair, creating a larger volume that can effectively come into contact with the surface and be significantly more absorbent.

Dust your cabinets, tables, air-conditioners, fans, television, computers, everything.

    • Vacuum Carpets Regularly

You already knew the price of thorough cleaning when you bought that carpet.

It’s important to vacuum your carpets at least once a week to minimise allergen accumulation.

It is highly recommended to use vacuums with HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filters. This type of mechanical air filter works by forcing air through a very fine mesh, trapping all kinds of small allergens.

This filter is one of the best house cleaning tools out there, so you should have one.

    • Clean Bathrooms

Your bathroom, even as a source of cleanliness for your body, can ironically be a favourite hangout place of bacteria and moulds because of its dampness.

You should be safe as long as you remove the water from your bathroom walls after every shower or at the end of the day if you have no time.

Use a squeegee or a microfiber cloth to minimise mould and bacteria growth, especially pink slime bacteria.

    • Wash Beddings Thoroughly

The word thoroughly is added here because your linen can easily accumulate dust, pollen, hair, spores, and other allergens you can think of.

Good house cleaning requires you to wash your beddings and sheets at least once a week.

It is recommended that you use hypoallergenic laundry detergent. It’s great against allergies and is better for your skin and the environment. Avoid using detergent with fragrance, as this can cause allergic reactions.

    • Wash Curtains and Blinds Thoroughly

Thoroughly is also added here for the same purpose as beddings. Simply put, your curtains are magnets for dust and allergens.

Luckily, you can be safe if you wash your curtains and blinds only at least once a month.

It’s good if you have dry-clean-only curtains because you can use your trusty vacuum to clean them.

As usual, use your dependable microfiber cloth to dust your window blinds.

    Take Control

You should ensure that everyone living in your house is safe from allergies by regularly performing these five tasks.

You should also get the help of a house cleaning service team from time-to-time to 100% guarantee that your house is allergy-free.
