Remote working is the new trend now yet there are not enough resources that would help resolve the cybersecurity issues that are arising with remote working. Often there have been instances when live meetings have been hacked into, data has been breached, and more. With companies now resorting to remote working, it is also time to ensure that client, customer, and employee data are kept secure.

There is a lot that one can do at an infrastructure level, but here we will discuss what one can do on an individual level to keep oneself secure while working from home.

Make Sure Your Home Router Is Secure

The first and foremost thing you need to enjoy a hassle-free remote working experience would be high-speed internet. Many hackers take advantage of the default internet passwords that homeowners use and do not bother to change, and hack into your devices to steal all your personal data. Changing your router’s password from default settings is the first step towards securing your remote workstation and all your devices from any kind of malicious attack. Again, ensure all the router updates are done on time to keep your security strong.

Try To Use Separate Devices For Your Work and Personal Use

While this is easier said than done, separating your work devices and personal devices will help you in the long run in keeping your data secure. While it may seem tiring to switch devices while trying to answer work emails or while trying to shop online, you would be able to secure some amount of data if one device’s security is compromised.

Make Sure That All Devices Are Encrypted

If your employer has not done it already, you should do it for all your devices. Whether you are trying to resize PDF using tools like PDFSimpli or compress PDF 500kb, everything should be done through encrypted devices. With encryption, no one will be able to access data without a pin or password.

    Your Software Should Be Up-To-Date

While your operating system should be up-to-date, the same goes for software. Software is the main target of cybercriminals, and if you do not keep them up-to-date, it would be easy to steal information because of poor data security. Up-to-date software will check for any malicious activity and will apply security patches on its own.

Therefore, these are some of the ways by which you can keep yourself secure while working from home and also make sure you run security checks every now and then.
