     Tips To Reduce The Chances Of Getting Heart Disease

    It is a widely known fact that heart diseases are one of the leading causes of death around the world. While there are certain factors such as family history, age, environment, etc. that you cannot control; various other lifestyle changes such as your diet, exercise, managing stress level, etc. can surely help you minimize the risk of getting a heart disease. Heart disease is not only the leading cause of death in the United States but also a major cause of disability in people. Your risk of getting heart disease increases as you get older.

    What can you do to lower the risk of heart disease upper west side manhattan?

    • Avoid smoking, drinking, and use of tobacco: This is one of the most ignored pieces of advice that can be considered a major contributing factor to heart disease. The chemicals present in tobacco damage the muscles of the heart and its blood vessels. Cigarette smoke minimises the flow of oxygen in the blood which can lead to high blood pressure and increased heart rate because your body has to work a lot harder to increase the supply of oxygen to different parts.
    • Get physically active: It is very important to keep your body moving because physical activity helps keep your weight under control and along with this, your cholesterol level, BP, etc. stay within the normal range. Even a 30 minutes of daily walk can reduce the chances of heart disease drastically.
    • Eat a nutritious diet: A balanced diet is very important for the heart which helps keep your blood pressure and cholesterol under control and minimize the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Therefore, ensure that you include vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains, healthy fats, etc. in your diet. Along with this, try to minimise the intake of salt, sugar, processed food, alcohol, etc.
    • Sleep properly: If you do not get enough sleep, you will have a greater risk of obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. which will increase your chances of developing a heart disease. Therefore, it is very essential that you sleep for at least 7 to 8 hours every night and that too within your daily schedule.

    Along with the above tips, you should also try to manage your stress level, go for regular health care checkups, maintain a healthy weight, and try to be happy and grateful for small things in life. For people who have high cholesterol, high BP, diabetes, etc., ensure that you follow the medication given by your doctor and religiously adopt the above tips in your lifestyle.
