The Southern part of the country is a sweltering one come the summer season. Endless days of bright rays and high temps can certainly take a toll on anyone.

Here are some things you can do to make summer in the south a bit more comfortable.

    Slather it On

The simplest thing to do is be sure to apply sunscreen any time you go to leave the house – yes, even if it’s for a short walk! The southern sun is a wicked one, and exposure to it can cause some serious skin damage if not cared for properly.

    Seek Out Water

We’re not just talking about water to drink (which is also important), but rather bodies of water to take a dip in. From lakes to rivers to beaches, these scenic stops can provide a much-needed reprieve from the humid air.

For example, among Tennessee’s Knoxville real estate are seven large lakes good for swimming, or places like the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta, Georgia.

    Stay Hydrated

You know that water bottle you carry around everywhere but might not always take a sip out of? It’s time to get serious about your hydration.

Increased water intake will help you avoid dehydration and heatstroke, which can sneak up on a person in high temperatures. Aim to drink eight to 10 glasses a day, or more if you’re outside actively working or working up a sweat.

Make Your Bed Work For You

Sleeping can be wildly uncomfortable when it’s too hot out. In order to get sleep, our core body temperature must decrease.

You can help facilitate this by using cotton bed sheets or soaking your feet in cold water right before bed. You might even go so far as sticking your sheets in a plastic bag and then in the fridge or freezer to give them a quick cool down before resting your head for the night.

    Dress Appropriately

Yes, shorts, t-shirts, and sundresses are logical wear for hot days – but are you looking at the materials your outfits are made of?

Opt for lighter fabrics like cotton and avoid heavier materials. You may want to store away your jeans for the season.

Additionally, lean toward clothing with brighter hues. Wearing dark clothing will attract and absorb heat, making your skin warm up quickly.

    Consider Coverage

Rainy day or not, an umbrella can come in handy when walking about in the heat. Use it to ward off the sun’s intense rays.

For a smaller version of this, pop a hat on your head.

    Cool Down

The most obvious help is employing the use of fans and air conditioners. Look for energy-efficient models to cut down on bill costs, as you will most likely be running these appliances near constantly. Visit Here: magazines2

    Embrace It

Though it may seem counterintuitive, go out into the heat and enjoy it! Take the aforementioned precautions to do so, of course, but be sure to get out in nature and enjoy all it has to offer during good weather days.
